Why should you choose Punta Trettu?
As lovers of this sport, we have been lucky enough to visit some of the best kitesurfing destinations in the world.
We are very often used to thinking that we have to make very long and expensive trips in order to reach the spots of our dreams but in this instance, this is not the case.
Punta Trettu is strategically located in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, easily accessible from all major European airports, and very inexpensive. With one or two hours by plane, you will reach Sardinia and have the opportunity to kitesurf at Punta Trettu, now considered by many to be Italy’s kitesurfing paradise.
The beauty of this place lies not only in the fabulous wind, climate, and sea conditions it offers but also in its wild spirit that still retains its peculiarities.
Unlike many places where mass tourism has distorted the connotations of the destinations, Punta Trettu has kept intact its soul of a spot that is still little frequented even in the high season, where one can feel free, breathe in the pure Sardinian air and find a true outlet in which to regenerate.
Kite Spot – Punta Trettu
Punta Trettu kite spot is located in south-west Sardinia, opposite the island of Sant’Antioco and the renowned island of San Pietro, precisely in the hamlet of Matzaccara in the municipality of San Giovanni Suergiu.
This kite spot, increasingly popular throughout Sardinia and Europe, enjoys unique characteristics that make it a real gem for kitesurfing lovers of all levels, but especially for those who want to take kite lessons in complete safety.
Punta Trettu’s unique characteristics
The kitesurf spot at Punta Trettu has become so famous because of the optimal conditions it offers:
- The seabed is shallow and sandy, consequently allowing you to stop and stand at any time during sailing or lessons.
- The water is crystal clear and completely flat, making the first starts on the board much easier and favouring the training of those who want to try new tricks.
- The total absence of obstacles (which can pose a safety risk to kiters and students), makes Punta Trettu a true kitesurfing paradise in Europe and a must for those who want to take the best kitesurfing course in Sardinia.
What are the best months to come to Punta Trettu?
The season at Punta Trettu lasts from March to November, with mild temperatures always between 20 and 35 degrees.
The wetsuits we recommend are a 5.4mm for March/April/October/November, 3.2mm for June/September and 2.5mm for July and August.
Our school starts operating in March, while the other kitesurfing schools at Punta Trettu start their activities in April and continue to operate until the beginning of November.
The winds blow strong and constant at Punta Trettu throughout these months where we can expect an average frequency of wind days of around 70-75%.
Spring is characterised by beautiful clear days and lush nature and semi-deserted beaches, summer sees the beaches fill up, all tourism-related activities are now active and of course the outside temperatures also rise, in autumn the days with stronger winds begin to increase but in general what remains a constant is the possibility of kitesurfing during all these months in a place where the wind never stops blowing.
What kite size is recommended for Punta Trettu?
Generally, with the winds at Kitesurf Spot Punta Trettu, we recommend a range of sails from 9 to 12.
At our Kitesurfing School we have sails from 5 to 17, which are also available for rental, should the wind conditions on the day be particularly strong or weak. A possibility of kitesurfing during all these months in a place where the wind never stops blowing.
